Common household hazardous chemicals can be disposed of safely by contacting the Household Chemical Collections Center at 417-337-8566. Products like pesticides, solvents, drain openers, used oil, oil-based paints, and other common products found in your garage or utility cabinets cause water pollution when improperly poured down storm drains, into roadside ditches, or into the gutter. Never pour anything down a curb or storm drain that you wouldn't pour into a river.
Unlike Oil based paint, latex paint is non-hazardous and you can find ways to dispose of it (PDF).
