Branson officials react to New York Times article

52 places to go NYT

The New York Times named Branson number 21 on its “52 Places to Go” list for 2018. The list was published Wednesday and includes places around the World like The Caribbean, Iceland and Prague.

“Being listed along with other great destinations around the world really highlights the wide variety of live entertainment, outdoor adventure and family fun that visitors can enjoy in Branson,” said Lynn Berry, the Director of Communications for the Branson CVB.

The writer, Makado Murphy wrote that Branson is “upping its game” and referenced Silver Dollar City and its new roller coasters.

“The air is full of excitement for the 2018 season,” said Branson Mayor Karen Best. “The Time Traveler at Silver Dollar City theme park will be a beacon for roller coaster enthusiasts when it opens this spring. Sight and Sound Theater welcomes Samson for the first time to their venue in 2018. Raiding the Rock Vault, Dennis Quaid, and Yakov Smirnoff return for limited engagements as well as show favorites like The Haygoods, Six, Legends, and the Presleys performing all year,” Mayor Best said.

In the NYT article the writer also mentioned The Haygoods saying it’s an “energetic country music show with light-up fiddles and lasers.”

Mayor Best says she is excited for people across the world to experience Branson, Missouri.

“We are looking forward to sharing our lakes, golf courses, shopping and attractions with the world this year. Our welcome mat is out and ready!” said Mayor Best.
