January 2018 Snow Storm Statistics & Cost

Your tax dollars are keeping the public safe.

The first snow storm of the year hit Branson on January 16th, 2018 costing the Public Works department $30,000 in labor and material to clear.

Twenty-two employees from the Street Department, Sign Shop, Recycle Center, Building maintenance, Parks, Utilities and the Garage working alternating 12 hour shifts worked 24 hours a day during the snow event. A total of over 125 tons of salt and 313 tons of rock chips were used to clear five inches of snow off eleven snow routes, totaling over 250 lane miles in the City.

The City thanks all the men and women who work long hours to make sure our roads are as safe as possible for our citizens and visitors.

Cost breakdown:

Employee Contribution: 22 employees

24 hours/day x 3 days

755 Labor hours

Fuel Used: 5 4 7 gallons—Diesel

477 gallons—unleaded

Miles Maintained: 250 lane miles in the City

5,270 miles driven

11 snow routes

Materials: 125 Tons of salt

313 Tons of rock chips

Total Cost - $30,000
