The Branson Fire Department would like to thank the Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 913 for donating $4,750 to purchase three new Automatic External Defibrillators (AEDs), protective cases for the AEDs and additional AED replacement pads to help firefighters better serve the community.
The Branson Fire Department carries AEDs on fire trucks and staff vehicles to assist patients in sudden cardiac arrest.
“Early CPR and the use of an AED can save lives,” said Branson Fire Chief Ted Martin. “Our Emergency responders at the City of Branson are committed to providing excellent care. This donation helps us do that. We also are trying to encourage local citizens to learn how to use an AED and how to perform hands-only CPR so more people can make a positive impact on the outcome of someone in cardiac arrest,” said Chief Martin.
The Branson Fire Department offers free classes on how to use AEDs and how to administer hands-only CPR. To sign up for a class, contact Mike Novak at the Branson Fire Department at 417-243- 2790.
