The Branson Parks & Recreation Department has partnered with the local art group, Southern Missouri Arts Connection (SMAC) to paint a mural along a 200-foot long wall at Murphy Park, located at 499 Neihardt Avenue in Branson.
The group of artists, led by local muralist Christine Riutzel, has divided the wall into sections and each artist will have the opportunity to design and paint their own section. The themes of the different sections range from local nature, positive words and family-friendly colorful elements, but also come together to connect the sections into a cohesive, collaborative mural.
“We are very excited to improve Murphy Park by adding this beautiful mural and appreciate the effort by all the local artists that worked on the project. We hope to continue this new partnership with SMAC and look for more opportunities to provide public murals for the community to enjoy,” said Parks & Recreation Director, Cindy Shook.
The mural is part of a continued effort to improve all local parks throughout the Branson community. In addition to Murphy Park, Parks & Recreation crews have been working in Branson North Park, Stockstill Park and John Nygard Memorial Park to provide the community with clean and safe park areas for all residents and guests to enjoy.
