2013 Branson Green Initiative Awards

The 2013 Branson Green Initiative Award winners were announced and presented with awards at a Board of Aldermen meeting at City Hall. Two award winners were selected for their impressive sustainability achievements and commitment to Branson's sustainability efforts.
Ozarks Rivers Heritage Foundation for their building strategies and practices in operating the Dewey Short Visitor Center. The visitor center received the LEED certification from the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design Program for their green building leadership.

Ozark Rivers Heritage Foundation achieved the certification by using building materials that minimized the environmental impact including using recycled content, local sourced and manufactured products and non-toxic products. The visitor center is 35% more energy efficient over similar buildings due to the green power off-sets and it is designed to require less energy for heating, cooling and lighting.

Wyndham Branson at the Meadows for utilizing their Greening Committee’s recommendations to create a sustainable environment for the resort and their guests.

Many of the improvements have created a large impact including, changing to CFL bulbs, adding motion sensitive lighting, providing recycling containers for guests and staff, recycling fluorescent bulbs, paper, printer cartridges and batteries. In addition, the Committee focused on water conservation by installing timers for the irrigation system and adding low flow shower heads in all showers.
