Dear Branson Community,
I hope you have a meaningful and patriotic Independence Day. Our community cherishes our freedom and knows it comes with a price. I encourage all to reflect on this most precious privilege that comes with accountability and responsibility to each other.
This week, the Missouri State Department of Health & Senior Services conducted more COVID-19 testing in Stone and Taney Counties as part of the State’s reopening plan. As you know, our COVID-19 numbers are steadily climbing higher. Your Branson Board of Aldermen is seeking to get as much information as possible to make, what will surely be, difficult decisions ahead.
I encourage you to be a part of the solution by following all Taney County Health Department COVID-19 health precautions, including its recent resolution, passed on June 25, 2020, advocating for the use of face coverings while in public places to help restrict the spread of the COVID-19 virus.
The City continues to work with local agencies including the Taney County Health Department, the Taney County Commission, and local health providers as we try to keep our community safe while keeping our economy afloat. We have some of the smartest people in their fields working together for our common good to find positive solutions.
Let us ask ourselves, what is our own attitude towards being a part of the solution? Unlike other public safety measures like seat belts, hair nets, or smoking, this virus will eventually have a vaccine. It is my hope as Mayor that we will be able to look back at this time as a temporary inconvenience as we strive to keep our community as safe as possible. I urge you to stay positive, help each other, and look for ways to be a part of the solution.
For those who pray, please continue to pray for unity and for love to conquer hate. Thank you for your support for our nation, state, county, and city.
Thank you for letting me serve you,
Mayor Edd Akers
