Police Chief to hold 3 pm news conference on May double homicide update
BRANSON, Mo – Branson Police Chief, Jeff Matthews will hold a news conference on Thursday, December 30, 2021, at 3:00 p.m. at the Branson Police Department to update media on the double homicide that occurred on May 29, 2021, behind the Famous Dave’s restaurant on W. 76 Country Blvd.
In the late evening hours of May 29, the Branson Police Department responded to the 1800 block of W 76 Country Blvd on a report of two people who had been shot. Officers found the victims, quickly secured the scene, and requested medical aid. The two victims were identified as 38-year old Krystle Buhl of Forsyth and 39-year old Richard McMahan of Merriam Woods.
Investigators have been working non-stop on this case and have spent countless hours following up on evidence and information as it developed. In August, the Police Department sent out a video of the suspect walking to the area where the crime happened and the same suspect running away from the scene. Since then, investigators were able to develop more leads and evidence to continue the investigation.
Branson PD is confident that there is no ongoing threat to the community related to this incident. This is the department’s first homicide since 2016. Recent crime statistics have shown violent crime to be down in the area.
After the news conference, the Police Department will send out a public news release that includes all relevant updates.
