[ARCHIVED] Gun Threat at Branson School Deemed 'Not Credible Threat'

According to City of Branson Police Chief Stan Dobbins regarding the gun threat today at Branson Schools:

“At approximately 3:30PM today, Branson Police were notified by a Wal-Mart supervisor reporting an undocumented phone call that had been received stating that an individual was threatening to first shoot up the Highway 76 Wal-Mart, then would proceed to visit Branson Schools with a subsequent threat. We notified our Branson School Resource Officers of the pending threat, following protocol established through our strong relationship with Branson School District and very strict procedures in place to protect its students. Fortunately, this was not a credible threat which we had determined in our initial investigation, but the Branson Police Department treats every threat with the utmost importance regardless, and we take the safety of our citizens and their children very seriously. Although students were released on time and within the regular schedule, the school district released precautionary messages to parents as an advisory to explain why the partial lock down had been initiated.”
